Ultraviolet-C (UV-C) disinfection systems utilize short-wavelength ultraviolet light (200–280 nm) to inactivate microorganisms by damaging their nucleic acids, effectively preventing replication. This germicidal wavelength is absorbed by DNA and RNA, disrupting essential cellular functions.
UV-C is used as a supplemental disinfection method for air and hard, non-porous surfaces, helping to reduce the presence of bacteria, viruses, and fungi in environments where traditional cleaning may not reach all areas.
As a non-chemical approach, UV-C leaves no residues and does not generate ozone when properly engineered. It is intended to complement—not replace—standard cleaning and disinfection practices.
